Many recycling plants require that you separate out different materials to ensure that as much of the device can be recycled as possible. Please follow the below steps to ensure that your device as possible can be recycled:
Butlr devices are disposed of and recycled according to the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive. The below guidance sets out the recommended steps that should be taken when recycling your Butlr devices.
Step 1
Remove the batteries from your device. Batteries should be recycled as "electrical waste" although many recycling stations have separate bins for recycling batteries.
Batteries can be removed from your sensor by sliding the cap by the direction indicated by the "open" icon until you hear a "click".
Next, lift the cap to detach it from the body of the sensor.
Now, take the battery out from the housing.
More information from the battery manufacturer (Tadiran) about battery recycling and disposal can be found here.
Step 2
Any remaining parts of your device (which should be the main body of the sensor/hive and the electrical board inside) will now need to be recycled as "electrical waste".
Many recycling centres have a separate bin for electrical products.
