There will be times when you have installed a sensor and chosen the wrong sensor type. This guide will show you how to retroactively convert a sensor to it's original state to enable you to choose a new sensor type.

Step by Step Guide

Re-configuring with the QR Code

  1. The first thing that you want to do is to identify the type of sensor that you are trying to convert and what you want it to be converted to.

Remember: Once a sensor has been configured to be Desk Occupancy or Pipe Monitoring this method will not work. For this contact your Customer Success Manager or Infogrid Support.

  2. Next you want to check if you are able to locate the device QR code. This is normally located on the device.

  3. Once you have found the QR code you can re-configure the sensor by following the install flow to install the sensor again. Here you will have the opportunity to choose the correct sensor type based on the use case that you intend to use it for.

Re-configuring without a QR Code

If you do not have a QR code because you may be repurposing previously installed sensors or if the code is damaged and illegible then the following steps will help.

  1. In order to get the sensor ID you need to go to the specific sensor that you want to re-configure and click into it.

  2. This will take you to the sensor data page where you will need to then click on 'Configuration & Details.'

  3. On this page you will see 'Vendor ID,' you will want to copy this.

  4. Next you need to go to a QR code generator to get a QR code to scan

  5. Click on 'Free Text' and enter the Vendor ID that you copied

  6. The QR code will be generated on the right and you can now use this to install the sensor using the installation flow and proceed to overwriting the configuration.

  7. To check if you have successfully overwritten the previous configuration check the sensor type to see if it has changed.
