Setting up alerts allows you to monitor sensor activity based on a range of parameters that you can decide. Once set up, you can always change these parameters as and if your needs change.
If you’re not in need of a specific alert and want to make use of our templates please see Alert Workflow Templates.
Step by Step Guide
To configure a new alert, you need to go to the Alerts overview section on the left hand panel. You can do this by clicking on the exclamation mark icon on the left hand menu.
Next, you need to click on "Alerts Set Up" at the top right of the page, next to “Alerts Feed”
Now click on “Create New Alert”
Here is where you choose a name for your alert and set the conditions
Now choose the sensor(s) that you want to apply the alert conditions to
You can select a folder of sensors (which will select all sensors in the folder) or one or more individual sensors. If any of the sensors meet the condition you've set, an alert will be triggered.
Now it’s time to decide who will be notified and how
You can have notifications sent by Email or SMS, and you can edit the messages we send when a notification is triggered.
In the default template you'll see a number of values which will reflect the details of whichever sensor the alert is triggered for.
For SMS alerts, mobile numbers will need to be entered with an area codes (eg, +447). For users that have their phone number stored in their profile, you can just enter their name
If you only want an alert sent out on certain days or during certain times, you can also configure this (above the alert notification section).
Once you're happy with the name, conditions, sensors and notification options you've added, you can create the alert by clicking "Save" in the top right corner
Hints & Tips
You can set up one alert but separate specific groups of sensors and who they notify by clicking on “Add Group of Sensors.” This way you don't need to create the same alert multiple times for different buildings or floors. The same Alert can alert different people about different sensors but all under the same conditions.
Any changes can be made from the same Alerts overview section, by clicking "Edit" next to the alerts' name. Likewise, you can remove an alert by clicking "Delete".
Acknowledging an alert resets the data that the system has collected for the Alert.
