Step by step guidance of how to install an Airthings sensor

Air Quality sensors can be used to monitor a number of air quality variables such as Radon, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), air pressure, humidity, light, temperature and carbon dioxide. This sensor will give you the information you need to be able to make informed, positive changes to a building or space, in order to improve health and wellbeing or building efficiency.

Before installing your sensors, you should already have an Airthings Space Hub installed in the area that you are installing your sensors so that you can check the signal of the sensors as you install them.

Step by Step Guide

Platform Configuration

  1. To configure the Space Pro (formerly known as “View Plus”) or Space Radon (formerly known as “Wave Plus”) device in the platform, click here.

  2. Remove the magnetic disk on the back of the sensor to reveal the QR code needed to identify the device using your camera, and Serial Number if needing to identify the device manually.

Sensor Install

  1. Remove the circular disk from the back of the sensor.

  2. Using the double sided sticky tape (provided), or screws for installations onto trickier surfaces (see tips below), stick the circular disk to the desired location.

  3. Place the sensor back onto the circular disk.

Hints & Tips

  • Recommended height: 150-170 cm above the floor (about head height)

  • Install at least 1 m away from exterior walls, doors, air supply/exhausts, mechanical fans, heaters or any other significant source of heat or cold.

  • Do not mount on the ceiling

  • Use the double-sided tape included with the sensor for installations onto most walls. For installations onto wood, fabric uneven surfaces or to industrial equipment or elevators, we recommend using a screw to mount the sensor.

  • Note: If mounting using adhesive tape, for best results, always start with a clean and dry surface. If required, clean the surface as by 3M in this application note.

Check the sensor is online

A Smartlink will be established between a powered-up device and a nearby powered-up Space Hub. It can take up to 12h to establish a Smartlink. Once the Smartlink has been established, the symbol below will be shown in the Space Hub.

Remember: if there is more than one Air Quality sensor per Space Hub, then there is no way to tell which of the devices is connected to the Space Hub, or if it's both.
