Access control is a key part of the Noda platform to ensure security and flexibility. Follow this guide to manage user permissions in Noda.
Check Portfolio Admin Status
If you are a Portfolio Admin in Noda then you are in the right place. With admin permissions, you will have a gear icon available at the top right of your screen (see image below). If you are not an administrator, you will not be able to manage users in Noda. Please see Understanding User Roles and Permissions for information on the roles available.
Creating Users
Click on the gear icon located at the top right of your screen to open the admin view. Here you will see a list of all users on the portfolios or buildings that you have access to. Use the search bar to search for users by name or email address. If there is already an existing user, jump to Modifying Existing User Access.
If there is no existing user, click on New User to get started.
You will now be prompted to select the user type.
Energy + Connect allows access to Energy and Connect AI. A Welcome email will be sent. This should be the default selection for Noda users.
Connect allows access to Connect AI only. A Welcome email will be sent. Use this if someone only needs API access.
Service Account allows access to Connect AI and is designed for machine to machine integrations by our customers. A Welcome email will not be sent.
Next, fill out the details required for account creation:
First Name
Last Name
Email
Organization
Company (made available after organization selection)
If you want to send the activation email at a later date, unselect the "Send Activation Email" box.
Finally, select the user's role. The role can be set at the Portfolio or Building level. In most cases, user access should be limited to a subset of the buildings in a portfolio. Expand the portfolio to see the underlying buildings. Select one or many buildings by clicking the checkbox on the left side of the screen and choose a role from the menu. For more information on selecting roles, see Understanding User Roles and Permissions.
Once you have selected the appropriate roles, click Submit. Users have 7 days to activate their Noda account from the date their account was created.
Note: If a company is SSO-enabled, then the user will receive a Welcome Email with a Verify Email message. If a company is not SSO-enabled, then the user will receive a Welcome Email with a Set Password message.
Modifying Existing User Access
In some cases, the user already exists but their access to buildings or portfolios needs to be modified. Select the user from the table. To modify a role, select the 3 dots on one or many portfolios and/or buildings and select the role.
