The latest Noda platform introduces many new features and functions not available in previous versions. To ensure you don’t get lost, we’ve highlighted key terms you may encounter across the platform and in training.
BSE (Building Systems Engineer)
Noda’s experienced, credentialed engineers who review insights, validate data, generate and manage projects, and work with customer teams. Each Conduct customer will have a dedicated BSE who will help them identify and complete quantifiable energy saving initiatives.
Clarify
This module provides customizable dashboards, energy and comfort monitoring, equipment performance tracking, and more. Clarify focuses on taking your building’s data and making sense of it in one easy-to-use platform. Your data ingestion method may impact exactly what features and widgets are available.
Command
The automation module.Conduct enables two-way control of equipment and systems (like chilled water plants or AHUs), plus Automated Demand Management (ADM), used to optimize energy usage, manage peak load, and reduce manual intervention.
Connect AI
Noda’s Independent Data Layer (IDL). It ingests and normalizes building data from multiple sources—BMS, meters, utility bills—then maps it to buildings, systems, and equipment. It's the foundation of the entire platform and powers Clarify, Conduct, and Command. Although you won’t be able to see or use Connect AI directly, this module is always included and serves as the technical backbone of the Noda platform.
Conduct
This module enables users to identify, track, and manage operational projects and initiatives. Supported by Noda’s expert BSEs, Conduct focuses on taking the valuable insights of Clarify and turning them into actionable projects with quantifiable results.
Dashboards
User-customizable views containing widgets like energy usage, peak demand, comfort, and insight summaries. Dashboards can be shared, copied, or customized.
Insight
An automated notification or finding generated by the platform’s FDD (Fault Detection and Diagnostics) engine, based on predefined rule-based or AI logic. It highlights potential comfort, equipment, or energy issues.
Noda Energy
Our next-generation platform, consisting of four powerful modules—Connect AI, Clarify, Conduct, and Command. It replaces the legacy Noda (formerly Aquicore) platform, building on core functions that made AQ great, while introducing powerful new capabilities such as improved automation, equipment control, and customizable dashboards.
Portfolios / Building View
The central workspace for navigating and managing sites in Noda. Users can organize buildings into portfolios (e.g., by region or ownership group) and drill into each building to access projects, equipment, insights, work requests, and charts. It's the starting point for all operational deep dives.
Project
An actionable item or plan identified by a BSE or the onsite team. Each project is focused on improving comfort, energy efficiency, or reliability, and includes a clear start-to-finish action plan. Once a project is completed, your BSE will perform Measurement & Verification (M&V) to confirm the impact and results.
Widgets
Highly modular blocks that make up a dashboard. Each widget offers a unique function that ranges from monitoring individual pieces of equipment to visualizing portfolio-wide initiatives. To learn more about the different widget options available, click here.
Workflows
A rules-based notification system. Users can create workflows that trigger email alerts when specific insights occur in buildings. Useful for recurring FDD or monitoring specific pieces of equipment.
